Thursday evening call from Pécs: when it has to run by tomorrow morning

2026. 03. 12.

A Thursday afternoon call from Pécs: tomorrow morning two treatment centres are silent, and it is implantology day. A story about a blocked water separator, and about service that is not heroic, just there in time.

The Pécs practice called around four on Thursday afternoon. I could hear in the receptionist's voice that this was not a complaint, but fear: tomorrow morning two surgeries would stand empty, and one of them had implantology day.

“Csaba, if it is not running by eight tomorrow, we will have to cancel twelve patients,” the doctor said. I do not ask much at such times. In the car I already had the kit in my head: hose connector set, pressure gauge, spare membrane, and the most important thing: patience.

On site it turned out that the compressor was not to blame, but a blocked water separator had put the treatment centre into protection mode. Twenty minutes later the system was running, but by then the doctor was already looking at the next day's schedule on her phone. She asked how this could be avoided next time.

I told her that this is exactly what the annual inspection is for before the summer holidays: not because of the big faults, but because of these small, quietly building problems. The next day I got a short message from her: “Everything ran today, thank you.” There is nothing spectacular in it — and that is exactly why I think it is worth sharing.
